The personal site of Ed Caspersen. This site contains various information pertaining to personal and professional interests of mine. Additionally I will be covering the production progress of Fracture as we embark on this amazing (and frustrating) journey which is the evolution and development of this incredible plug-in.

We can now render!

With just over a month to CG Overdrive rendering is finally implemented. No more ugly playblasts!

Reconnecting with Jaunty

As it turns out my old Dell Latitude 120L (and its onboard video chipset) just didn't agree with Jaunty. I am very pleased to announce that Jaunty is running perfectly on my new HP Pavilion dv7. I was long overdue for an upgrade anyways.

Service Restored

On 2009/05/09 this site was offline. My service provider experienced hardware failure on the new server that this site had been moved to. Very very little had been lost. Everything is back up and running and download mirrors should be working correctly now.

Falling back on Interpid

Going to stay with Intrepid (8.10) for the time being and keep an eye on Jaunty updates. I tried SUSE but must have downloaded a bad ISO because every installation attempt had errors. Just not having a good week with Linux distros.

Jaunty has been a let down

Well I should re-phrase this to say "Ubuntu devs are a let down". As a whole Jaunty runs really good even tho I had to manually install b43-fwcutter to get my wireless working. However the problems with the GUI and icons that I and other Blender users are having is totally unacceptable. This really obnoxious thing is when I read up on the BlenderArtists.org forums I see that this problem was known even during the beta. Good job devs on blowing off Blender users and their cries for help. Its not like we are a small community behind a relatively unknown 3D package.

CG Overdrive 2009

As it stand Kevin and I (or at least just Kevin) will be presenting Fracture at CG Overdrive June 16th, at 4:00 PM. A little less then two months away and there is still sooo much to do.

CG Overdrive 2009 - Conference Programme Outline

April 21st...

As I lay here trying to muster the energy to climb out of bed I can't help but listen to the sound of freezing rain (with a chance of snow) on my roof. Maybe it wouldn't seem as depressing if it wasn't my birthday today. Tho the day isn't over yet and it doesn't need to end this depressing. Now if I can only get that first cup of coffee in me, that will be a step in the right direction.

Array for Maya v1.1

Is released, the new features where actually quite easy to implement. Maybe now I can actually move on to another project.

The Array script, probably my last big MEL project (for now)

A few days ago I completed the actual production of this script. Since then I have made a couple patches addressing various issues. As of right now it really does seem to be running solid. There are issues that are out of my control and not really my fault. One of my colleagues contact me about the positioning issues (especially with text controls) on OSX. This is one drawback about GUI design on scripts that can run cross platform. This is one of the things that will probably cause the Array script to be my last MEL project, at least concerning anything that UI driven.
