The personal site of Ed Caspersen. This site contains various information pertaining to personal and professional interests of mine. Additionally I will be covering the production progress of Fracture as we embark on this amazing (and frustrating) journey which is the evolution and development of this incredible plug-in.

Alumna sues college because she hasn't found a job

WTF!!!!!!!!! Seriously, this shit makes me sick. First lets look at contradictions in her statements:

"Office of Career Advancement did not help me with a full-time job placement."

Then she states:

"They have not tried hard enough to help me."

PICK ONE! Either they did or didn't! And how did they not try hard enough? Where is the evidence of this (other then not having a job. I want real evidence)? Ooh it gets even better:

Fracture Masterclass Available Today!

Autodesk has launched the streaming masterclasses. It would have been much cooler to have been at SIGGRAPH in person for this. There are many other classes that I encourage you to view. It should all be very informative. Registration is required at The Area before viewing.

Fracture Masterclass

Durian DVD pre-order starts today!

The pre-order for the upcoming Durian project starts today.

"As you can notice on the campaign “money meter”, we target at a pre-sale of 2000 this time. Very ambitious, but the target for this projects are ambitious too."

First review of our book

Finally someone has done a review, and it is actually good!

"Being somewhere between intermediate and advanced, I‘ll happily admit to not knowing everything about my weapon of choice, I sometimes find that books on areas of CGI, specifically those in relation to scripting, are either too condescending or too high handed. Thankfully for everyone, Professional MEL Solutions for Production is neither."

Killer Bean Forever

I will keep this short and to the point. I could attack specific points of this movie like a Rotten Tomatoes critic, but this is NOT your normal movie. How do you pick apart something that has never been done before, even something that I could never comprehend doing myself? There are indy productions and there are independent works of art. Killer Bean Forever is the latter. I proudly purchased the DVD this past week and am watching it for the second time as I write this.

TD College will be offering 3 more courses starting at the end of July in MEL, Python, and RealFlow.

Transformers 2

There are two things that are simply amazing: The work of ILM and Digital Domain, and how the hell Michael Bay manages to stay employed. It seriously blows my mind to how one person can be so horrible at what they do and still be successful. I can sum up Transformers 2 by comparing it to a handful of women I have been on dates with; visually astounding with flawless visual perfection while at the same time I find myself desperately searching for a mute button.

Fracture Spotlight: Crack Paint

Crack Paint is a new feature of Fracture that allows a user to define the way a mesh fractures via black-and-white imagery, either by painting with artisan or importing a pre-made file. The following demo is made from a non-uniformly scaled cube with the image below being applied to it. Fracture does the rest...
