5 star review at Amazon

Sorry, I can't help but gloat a little over getting our first review at Amazon and having it be a 5 star review at that. I can't believe it is nearing two years since I happened to make Kevin's acquaintance and started work on that book.

Blender 2.5 Tour #10 by mfoxdogg

Mike has released his 10th Blender 2.5 tour. He states "this is my longest tour to date ~50 minutes long :S". Like always his tours are worth time for anyone interested in Blender 2.5 changes and updates.

Topics Covered:

Quote from 'The Machine' concerning Maya bugs

In a recent discussion with the third member of Fracture, an individual who likes his name kept out of blogs and that Kevin and I refer to as 'The Machine', about a series of Maya bugs involving MEL, UI's, and cross-platform compatability has made yet another memorable quote:

"These things will probably never get fixed. They're too busy changing the icons and adding things like the viewport cube."

Happy Holidays to all my readers!

Though I am not a religious man I do not squander the opportunity to spend time with the family I am close to and enjoy a good dinner. I hope everyone out there enjoys the next couple of days in a way most pleasing to them. I have nothing big planned for the New Years, however in my hometown of Ludington, MI they are planning to have their own little ball drop at midnight. This is the first year they are doing it and I may go see that. I also have an invitation for some live music, hot food, and outdoor fire pits.

Installing Maya 2009 sp1 on Kubuntu 9.10

Not too long ago Alex Combas posted an extremely useful article on his website on installing Maya 2009 sp1 on Ubuntu 9.04. His directions are very precise and came in quite handy when I decided to try and move away from Fedora. After successfully installing Maya I started encountering strange problems. With what seemed to be a random occurrence Maya would behave as if the ENTER key was being held down.

Family Guy: Something, Something, Something, Dark Side

Holy shit is this funny! It was well worth the wait since the release of Blue Harvest. This isn't a long winded review, it's just me stating briefly and to the point how much I enjoyed this. To the people of Fuzzy Door Productions I just want to tip my hat and say thank you. I really, really, really enjoyed it!

Fracture Update: Split Plane

This week we announce the new feature to Fracture, Split Plane. The split plane utilizes a plane node (similar to our crack image plane) to control the orientation and position of a split on a mesh. These nodes can be interactively manipulated while the effected mesh updates in the viewport.

You can watch the video demo here or keep reading if you rather not listen to me drone on.

Best holiday of the year

It is simple. Get together with those you care about. Eat, drink (in my case drink a lot), laugh, and have a friendly card game. In my opinion this is the one holiday that people are most genuine in their happiness. I always felt that Christmas was too much forced happiness. Yesterday was a balance of family and friends with good food and cold beer where ever I went. What more could anyone want? No lame gift exchanges or gaudy decorations to get in the way.

Blender 2.5 Alpha 0

The first step in many towards what will most likely be one of the greatest breakthroughs in this inudstry.
